Amber Heard Accuses Johnny Depp Of Avoiding Court Date
The spats between former spouses Amber Heard and Johnny Depp never seem to end, as the two are once again trading barbs over the legal battle being fought in the United States. Heard has fired the latest shot by accusing Depp of avoiding his legal obligations.
Page Six reports that Heard has insinuated that Depp is a spoiled Hollywood celebrity by exerting no effort at all to make the January trial date a Virginia court has set for the $50 million defamation case that Depp has filed against Heard.
Depp has said filming for the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie prevents him from making the January court date. Heard, through her lawyers, says Depp expects the court to adjust to his schedule rather than talking to his employer so that his filming schedule can accommodate the trial.
Metro also adds that aside from reprimanding Depp for asking for a date change for the trial, Heard has also launched a legal offensive of her own. The actress is countersuing Depp for $100 million, claiming that the actor is behind a smear campaign against her made up of trolls and fake social media accounts.
In a statement, Heard alleged that Depp is behind a “daily campaign” that has used the press, social media, and the internet to tarnish her reputation.
This new conflict comes after the conclusion of the libel trial in the United Kingdom, a process that Heard has described as “incredibly painful.” During the trial, Heard says the general public was made aware of traumatic details of her life with Depp.
Heard also called the trial a waste of British taxpayer money, wishing instead that the money used for the trial be channeled to other matters that had been delayed because of the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic.
During the trial in the United Kingdom, Depp’s lawyers painted Heard as unreliable and a “compulsive liar.” Depp’s lawyers also questioned the bruises that Heard presented as evidence of the abuse she suffered under Depp, arguing instead that it was the actor that was abused by Heard.
An alleged threesome between Heard, Elon Musk, and Cara Delevingne was also brought up, which Depp’s lawyers say happened when Heard and Depp were still married. Heard and Musk has both denied this claim.
Before these multiple legal battles, Depp paid Heard $7 million after finalizing their divorce back in 2017.
Aside from Heard and Depp, another prominent celebrity couple that had a very public spat is Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West. After a very public Twitter breakdown, stories began circulating that the couple was already living separately.
