Amber Heard Describes Johnny Depp Trial As 'Incredibly Painful'
The ongoing libel trial involving former spouses Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have finally concluded after three weeks, with a lot of titillating details about the relationship between Heard and Depp exposed. At the end of the trial, Heard has revealed that the whole process has been “incredibly painful.”
Page Six reports that Heard made the statement outside a court in the United Kingdom after the end of the trial. Heard talked about how traumatic details of her life with Depp were exposed in the courtroom and how the libel case was a waste of British taxpayer money.
Heard emphasized that she did not file the lawsuit and that she would rather have not gone to the United Kingdom to testify in the case. She also expressed her wish that the resources used for the trial be diverted instead to other legal matters that were delayed by the global coronavirus pandemic.
The Guardian quotes Heard as saying that despite everything, she is thankful for the outpouring of support she has received from around the world. She said those messages have given her the strength to push through and that she gives that strength back to her supporters.
Depp’s representatives, however, paint a different picture of Heard, as evidenced by the closing statements that The Guardian quotes. According to David Sherborne, Depp’s lawyer, Heard is a witness who is unreliable and is “a compulsive liar.”
Sherborne maintains that between Heard and Depp, it is Depp who was abused. He also called into question Heard’s bruises, saying that they only seem to appear when she is with friends or by herself and never with someone who can record them independently.
Aside from questioning Heard’s integrity, Depp’s side also questioned Heard’s loyalty to the relationship, claiming in court that Heard had engaged in a threesome with Cara Delevingne and Elon Musk. The threesome, allegedly, happened in Depp’s Los Angeles penthouse and was during the period when Depp and Heard were still married.
Musk maintained that he only got into a relationship with Heard after her relationship with Depp ended. Josh Drew, a mutual friend of Depp and Heard who made the claim, insisted that the relationship happened while Depp and Heard were still together.
Even before this libel case, Depp and Heard had already battled in the courts over their divorce, resulting in a $7 million settlement.
Depp and Heard got married in 2015 after meeting each other on the set of The Rum Diary back in 2011. The marriage only lasted for two years as the couple got divorced in 2017.
