BTS To Hold Free Concert Streaming Event Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
BTS is going to be bringing some entertainment to fans stuck in their homes due to coronavirus quarantines happening all over the world.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, BTS just announced “Bang Bang Con,” a concert streaming event on the pop superstars’ YouTube channel, BANGTANTV. The group posted the details of the streaming event on their Twitter account.
As detailed by Soompi, the event will start on Apr. 18, 12 PM Korean Standard Time. The concert footage to be aired includes “2015 BTS LIVE [Most Beautiful Moment In Life On Stage],” “2016 BTS LIVE [Most Beautiful Moment In Life On Stage: Epilogue],” “BTS 2014 LIVE TRILOGY: EPISODE II The Red Bullet (2014 Memories),” “BTS 3rd MUSTER [ARMY.ZIP+].”
On Apr. 19, also at 12 PM Korean Standard Time, BANGTANTV will stream “2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III THE WINGS TOUR IN SEOUL,” “2017 BTS LIVE TRILOGY EPISODE III THE WINGS TOUR THE FINAL (2017 Memories),” “BTS 4th MUSTER [HAPPY EVER AFTER],” and “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘LOVE YOURSELF’ SEOUL.”
According to the photograph used to announce the event, “Bang Bang Con” is organized by BTS for ARMY and provides an “at-home BTS concert experience.” According to the group, it is an opportunity for their fans to “spend a couple of Spring Days comfy at home.”
The event will also be an opportunity for fans to try out some of the new technology that BTS's agency, Big Hit Entertainment, has been working on. In another announcement on the BTS Twitter account run by the agency, it was revealed that ARMY Bombs -- the group's official light stick -- can be synced to the Weverse platform so it syncs with the actual concert, providing a "real" concert experience.
The streaming event is especially welcome since BTS was forced to postpone the North American leg of their Map of the Soul tour because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Aside from the BTS tour, a number of events have also been postponed or canceled because of COVID-19-induced lockdown. These events include the Met Gala, the Cannes Film Festival, Coachella, and the UEFA Champions League, just to name a few.
