Portia de Rossi Says Ellen Doing Great Despite Scandal
Her talk show may be getting numerous allegations of misconduct and toxicity, but Ellen DeGeneres seems to still be doing well, or at least that is what her wife, Portia de Rossi, says about the host.
Page Six reports that de Rossi was asked by a photographer about how DeGeneres was doing after de Rossi was spotted in Santa Barbara walking with her mom and dog. The actress simply responded that DeGeneres was doing good.
De Rossi was also pushed as to whether DeGeneres would continue hosting her eponymous talk show, and de Rossi responded that the 62-year-old would still continue to do so despite the flood of allegations against her and the show.
The Daily Mail alleges that DeGeneres has been considering not just walking away from the show but ending it as well. If the Daily Mail is to be believed, DeGeneres has already considered ending the show and has even approached both WarnerMedia and Telepictures about it.
The Daily Mail also pointed out that de Rossi has not spoken specifically about the allegations being made about her wife by former and current staff of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. What de Rossi has done instead is express support for her wife.
The actress did this by posting an image on Instagram that said “I Stand By Ellen.” The image was accompanied by a caption that used the hashtags #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen, and #IStandByEllenDeGeneres, as well as a message of gratitude to their fans and supporters.
The hashtag #stopbotattacks was also in the captions, probably because de Rossi was implying that the attacks on her wife are boosted by online bots.
Allegations about DeGeneres’ supposed mean behavior have been going around for months, with a tweet back in May alleging that the talk show host was not as nice as she presented on television. Rather than be flooded with defenses of DeGeneres, the tweet instead gathered even more allegations of bad behavior.
Everything came to a boil when Buzzfeed released a report that detailed supposed incidents of racism on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as incidents of employees, prevented from going on leaves for their mental health or to attend funerals. The report would result in WarnerMedia starting an internal investigation to find the truth about the allegations.
As a response to the scandal, both the show’s producers and DeGeneres herself have come out with apologies as well as pledges of a better work environment moving forward. Both DeGeneres and the producers have also accepted responsibility for the alleged toxicity present in their workplace.
