People are so hungry for an Adele comeback that it appears some of them have been duped into believing that she actually shaved her hair and gone almost bald.
Gulf News reports that a photo of the Grammy winner recently went viral showing her with a shaved head and the little hair left dyed blonde. Because it is such a dramatic look, people were understandably surprised. Aside from exclamations of “ADELE?!!!!” one popular retweet declared that Adele’s newest album will probably send them to therapy.
But as it turns out, the image comes from the Instagram account @hey_reilly. The Instagram account is owned by a digital artist born in Scotland who has previously posted a bald Timothee Chalamey edit, an image of President Barack Obama with a leopard dye job, as well as an edit of Queen Elizabeth titled “Elizabeth McQueen.”
The image itself went viral after Adele’s makeup artist, Michael Ashton, posted an image of Adele on his Instagram Stories promising “exciting news coming soon!!” CapitalFM notes that it understandably drove her fans crazy, with one of them stating that the 31-year-old songstress would be the only one to save them from the pandemic.
The last album Adele released was 2015’s “25.” She has also stopped touring since 2017, saying that she was a homebody and that the traveling didn’t suit her. She was supposedly going to release a new album in 2019 but it never happened. There were speculations that there would be a Sept. 2020 comeback, but there are rumors saying that may also be postponed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
If COVID-19 does result in a postponement of Adele’s new album launch, it would not be the first entertainment event that has had to reschedule because of the coronavirus pandemic. Among the list of events that have canceled or postponed are BTS’s Map of the Soul tour, the Met Gala, Coachella, the Cannes Film Festival, the UEFA Champions League, and many more.
