The past few days have not been kind to the Kardashian family as they have found themselves embroiled in one social media firestorm after another. But now the Kardashian matriarch Kris is responding to the backlash.
Page Six reports that the 64-year-old went on Andy Cohen’s talk show Always Unpredictable to say that the public should not have any worries about the party as her daughter and everyone else who attended was “responsible.”
According to Jenner, the 100 or so people that attended the birthday party were all tested for COVID-19 before they could even enter the venue. There was a 30-minute wait for all the guests before they could be let in.
The controversial Halloween birthday party did have its share of celebrity guests. Just some of the celebrity names that were seen on social media as attending the party include Saweetie, Doja Cat, Winnie Harlow, Jaden Smith, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.
Before Kendall’s party, it was her older sister Kim that drew the ire of the public after posting a series of tweets that revealed her 40th birthday celebrations on a private island along with friends and family.
Us Magazine notes that Jenner also pointed out in the same interview that she and her family go through twice a week coronavirus testing as part of the health and safety protocols required to film their reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Jenner also acknowledged that all they can do is live their lives as responsibly as they can since they cannot control what the public thinks of them. She affirmed that she and her family are being sensitive to the situation and are trying to do their best.
Unfortunately, much of the general public does not seem to think that Jenner, her family, and their celebrity friends are trying their best to be sensitive to the situation with regards to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Reactions to both parties have been mostly negative, with Twitter users pointing out how insensitive their family and their friends are.
For instance, the oxygen mask costume that Jaden Smith wore to Kendall Jenner’s Halloween party was seen as insensitive, with a Twitter user pointing out that it was disgusting, especially since her mother and aunt are both asthmatic.
Another commenter said that these celebrities were hypocritical to ask the public to follow health and safety protocols when they themselves flout it and hold mass gatherings like Halloween parties.
The public certainly has the right to worry as the global coronavirus pandemic is still very much a concern in the United States and the rest of the world. According to the Nov. 2 update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are now 9,182,628 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States. Deaths caused by COVID-19 are now at 230,383 people.
