Halloween Party Gets Kendall Jenner Caught In Public Backlash
It looks like members of the Kardashian family are having a hard time following health and safety measures during this pandemic as yet another member of the famous clan is facing social media backlash for hosting a Halloween party in the middle of a pandemic.
Page Six reports that Kendall Jenner hosted a Halloween birthday party for her 25th birthday and invited a hundred people to the celebration. The publication says the party was held at Los Angeles’ Harriet’s Rooftop and even included a warning asking partygoers to not post about it on social media.
Ironically, a lot of the invited partygoers did not follow the rules set by Jenner, most notably her own sister, Kylie. The 23-year-old Jenner posted about the celebration on her Instagram stories, revealing the presence of a number of other celebrities.
Some of the celebrity attendees on Kylie Jenner’s Instagram stories include The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith, Winnie Harlow, Doja Cat, and Saweetie. Jaden Smith drew particular attention as his costume involved an oxygen mask, which people thought made fun of the coronavirus victims.
With most of the general population either in lockdown or aware of someone close to them getting COVID-19, the response was harsh and brutal. Buzzfeed collected some of the reactions to the party on Twitter, with responses ranging from describing the party as the “scariest” thing they’ve encountered this Halloween to an outright call to “eat the rich.”
One user took offense and shared that her mother and her aunt are both asthmatic, and said that Jaden Smith’s costume as a COVID-19 patient made fun of the situation and left her disgusted.
Another user pointed out that people are dying while these celebrities are enjoying a party, while another noted the hypocrisy of these celebrities posting about following health and safety protocols on their social media while also flaunting the rules at the same time by attending the party without masks.
The outrage over Kendall Jenner’s party is the second time in the past couple of weeks that the Kardashians have been under fire for holding a party during the coronavirus pandemic. Last weekend, Kim Kardashian West was called out by the public after a series of tweets that showcased her 40th birthday party celebrations on a private island.
Even more ironic is the fact that one of their siblings, Khloe Kardashian, actually tested positive for the coronavirus. The 36-year-old’s positive coronavirus result was revealed in a teaser for a Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode.
