It appears even a coronavirus-induced lockdown couldn’t stop Machester City footballer Kyle Walker from hosting a sex party at his house, flouting recommendations on social distancing.
The Guardian reports that Walker apparently paid £2,200 for two sex workers to visit his home last week. This was despite the government of the United Kingdom imposing a lockdown that has resulted in the closure of schools, restaurants, bars, and other establishments and the enforcement of social distancing rules.
The party is even more ironic considering the fact that the 29-year-old went on social media after the two sex workers left his home to ask his followers to observe social distancing and to stay indoors.
TalkSport points out that Walker does not deny the incident in the statement released by the footballer. In the statement, Walker apologized to his “family, friends, football club, supporters, and the public.”
Walker also said that he intends to spend the following week highlighting the services and work of people fighting the spread of the coronavirus.
Despite the statement, Manchester City will be launching an internal investigation on the incident. The football club also released a statement, saying that they are “disappointed” and noted that football players are “global role models.” The club also underscored that their players and staff have been supporting the work of the United Kingdom’s National Health Service and the other essential workers that have been combating the spread of the coronavirus.
Walker is the second footballer to be caught flouting lockdown rules. Last week, Aston Villa Jack Grealish was photographed at the scene of a road accident, far away from his home. Just like Walker, Grealish had also released a video on social media asking the public to stay at home.
The Twitter video that Grealish posted called on the public to only go out of their houses if they need to buy medicine, food, or to get some exercise. Grealish also called on the public to practice social distancing and to stay at least two meters apart from each other.
