Aston Villa Player Jack Grealish Involved In Traffic Accident: Report
It looks like Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish should have taken his own advice about staying indoors during the global coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Mirror, the 24-year-old football player was seen at the scene of a car accident in Solihull, West Midlands. Pictures circulating on social media show a disheveled Grealish wearing a blue Givenchy hoodie paired with white slippers. The photo was allegedly taken at the accident scene.
Other photos show a white Range Rover with visible damage as well as being parked on double yellow lines. In the United Kingdom, double yellow lines mean no car should be parked or waiting on them unless seasonal restrictions apply. It is not clear whether the Range Rover involved in the accident belongs to Grealish.
TalkSport has more details about the accident. According to the website, the Range Rover had crashed into a parked silver van while reversing from a parking bay. The luxury car also hit another parked car and veered onto the pavement, resulting in damage to an estate agency’s iron railings. The Range Rover, on the other hand, had damage to its rear because of the incident.
TalkSport also reports that the West Midlands Police have decided to investigate the incident. According to the police, the driver of the Range Rover left their contact details at the scene of the accident before walking away. The police did not say if the driver was Grealish.
In an ironic twist, Grealish had released a video on social media less than 24 hours before the incident calling on the public to stay indoors as coronavirus cases in the United Kingdom continue to rise.
In the Twitter video, Grealish said that staying at home saves lives. He said people should only leave their houses for exercise, medicine, or food and that everyone should at least stay two meters apart from each other.
The government of the United Kingdom just recently announced lockdown measures that have resulted in businesses, gyms, cafes, restaurants, bars, and schools closing. Police have also been empowered to enforce these lockdown measures with fines and the authority to disperse gatherings.
According to the BBC, there are, currently, 19,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the country. The number of deaths stands at 1,228 people.
Globally, the Mar. 29 World Health Organization situation report places confirmed infections at 634,835, with 29,891 people dead. The European Region has the highest amount of confirmed cases at 361,031, with 21,427 dead.
