Queen Elizabeth, allegedly, showed Prince Andrew with so much attention, unlike his older siblings, Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
According to You South Africa, the queen treated Prince Andrew differently despite his tantrums and bad manners.
As a kid, the Duke of York’s nannies called him “Baby Grumpling” because of his temper tantrums, mischief, and obstinacy. Prince Andrew refused to eat the food that he’s served on the table, and he enjoyed playing games.
Initially, the palace staff adored Prince Andrew, and they even gave him the adorable nickname “Andy Pandy,” inspired by a puppet show on television. However, this affection didn’t last very long.
“He got obstinate if he didn’t get his way and after his sister, Princess Anne, left for school at Benenden and until his younger brother, Prince Edward, joined him tine nursery, he was king of the solitary domain,” the source said.
Growing up, Prince Andrew and Prince Charles couldn’t be more different from one another. Prince Charles was reportedly tentative, while Prince Andrew thrived.
“He had at least seven nurseries in four palaces and, unlike his two elder siblings, from the start, his life consisted of sumptuous surroundings with footmen and priceless art, endless royal Rolls-Royces, while the royal train and yacht would take him whenever on the yearly royal migration – London, Windsor, Sandringham Balmoral – always accompanied by a detective for his protection,” the publication claimed.
Prince Andrew didn’t grow up surrounded by children his age. But he was lucky enough to have the queen’s undivided attention.
“With Andrew, the queen was entirely different and he was entirely different from her – gone was the little boy with tantrums. He’d often play quietly in her study with a puzzle or a picture book while visitors on official business came around, and the queen would go for walks and watch him play in the sandpit and climbing rack built for him,” the publication revealed.
Over the years, Prince Andrew earned the reputation of a flirt. He reportedly knew that he was the most attractive child of the queen and Prince Philip. And the press didn’t shy away from telling him that he looks handsome.
In fact, there was reportedly a time when Prince Charles admitted that Prince Andrew is the one that has good looks in their family. And Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s dad earner the nickname “His Royal Heartthrob” shortly after.
