Prince Harry allegedly regrets his decision to not attend Prince Philip’s memorial service.
In its April 11 issue, Woman’s Day claimed that Prince Philip’s memorial service was designed as a family affair. So, everyone was expected to be there including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But the couple decided to skip the gathering due to some security concerns.
“It was a family event and it was expected that everyone should be there. The queen herself can barely walk and there are serious concerns for her health, but even she soldiered on in honor of her late husband. This makes Harry’s absence all the more shocking,” the source said.
A palace source said that Prince Harry would’ve gotten the security that he so badly wanted if he stayed close to Prince Charles and Prince William. After all, they are the future kings of Britain. But instead, the Duke of Sussex decided to quit his royal duties in exchange for more private life in the United States.
The tabloid’s insider claimed that Prince Harry watched the memorial service unfold on television, and it left him feeling emotional. He was also, allegedly, filled with regret.
“Harry tuned into the service, which was in the wee hours of the morning for him. And seeing his usually stoic granny looking so frail and attempting to stem her tears was something he’ll never forget. He thought he was doing the right thing by his wife and children boycotting this trip, but now he’s not so sure,” the source said.
But the source insisted that Prince Harry and Markle thought long and hard as to whether the former should attend the service. And the couple decided that he shouldn’t be there.
“But at the end of the day when your grandmother and cousin are crying live on global television and even your 8-year-old nephew and 6-year-old niece were here for the queen, you probably feel a bit rotten about skipping out on this over a legal dispute,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. There’s no proof that Prince Harry regrets his decision to skip Prince Philip’s memorial service. And there’s also no proof that he even watched the somber event unfold on television.
By the looks of it, the tabloid just made up this story to make it seem as though Prince Harry has a falling out with the royal family.
