Tom Cruise is allegedly planning to quit the Church of Scientology.

In its Jan. 17 issue, Life & Style claimed that Cruise used to be the poster child of Scientology, and its founder also regarded the actor as his successor.

But in recent years, Cruise has not talked about Scientology and there are also claims that he already stopped giving his church generous donations.

“Tom hasn’t publicly addressed it yet, but his loyalty to Scientology seemingly has waned. It’s like he’s having a secret showdown with David Miscavige and the church,” the source said.

The insider also claimed that Cruise has started to question some of the religion’s beliefs and practices. And it didn’t also sit well with him when the Church of Scientology didn’t support John Travolta and his late wife, Kelly Preston after she was diagnosed with cancer.

“The church must realize Tom would cause a ripple effect among the celebrity world, and others would follow suit and break free. This may be the biggest crisis Scientology has ever faced in years,” the source said.

This isn’t the first time that Cruise was rumored to be quitting Scientology. In fact, it’s been a very common storyline for the actor. However, it has not happened.

It is possible that Cruise is just busy with his work that’s why he has publicly talked about his religion. But his silence doesn’t mean that he already turned his back on the church.

There’s also no proof that Cruise stopped giving the Church of Scientology his donations. After all, donations are usually given in private.

Meanwhile, Cruise also made headlines recently after New Idea claimed that he plans to reunite with his estranged daughter, Suri Cruise when he returns to the United States.

The actor is still in London for the filming of Mission: Impossible. But he allegedly reached out to Suri via his ex-wife, Katie Holmes and the actress agreed that the father and daughter could meet.

However, Holmes allegedly told her ex-husband that she doesn’t want him to meet Suri somewhere close to the Church of Scientology because she’s worried that her teen daughter will be recruited to join.

Unfortunately, the tabloid was also unable to provide proof of their claims. There’s no indication that Cruise wants to reunite with Suri and that their reunion would happen anytime soon.
