Queen Elizabeth is reportedly very protective of her loved ones, especially Prince William because he’s the future of the British monarchy.

In its Jan. 3 issue, New Idea claimed that the queen is stressing out due to her grandson’s obsession with flying helicopters.

“She would like William to stop flying himself, particularly in bad weather, as helicopters are not the safest form of transport. She knows William is a capable pilot – but that so many things can go wrong. She does not think it is worth the risk for all five of them to carry on flying together and can’t imagine what would happen. It would spark a constitutional crisis,” the source said.

While it is true that the queen has a rule when it comes to heirs riding helicopters at the same time, it’s not true that she wants Prince William to stop flying helicopters.

After all, there’s no indication that the Duke of Cambridge still flies himself and his entire family during their vacations. The Cambridges have a personal pilot that takes them on their trips so it’s unclear where the tabloid’s claims are coming from.

A week before Christmas Day, multiple sources published a similar story about the queen and Prince William. They said that the queen wants her grandson to stop flying helicopters especially when the weather is not good because she’s worried about his safety.

“Her Majesty has told close friends and courtiers that she would like William to stop flying himself, particularly in bad weather, as helicopters are not the safest form of transport. It keeps the Queen awake at night and she is understandably very worried. She knows William is a capable pilot but does not think it is worth the risk for all five of them to carry on flying together and can’t imagine what would happen. It would spark a constitutional crisis,” a source said.

It is possible that the tabloid’s claims came from this report. However, there’s still no proof that the queen is worried about Prince William because if she is, then she should’ve felt it a long time ago because her grandson used to fly helicopters more regularly when he was still working for the air ambulance.

Years later, Prince William decided to quit his job after he helped a young boy survive and this reportedly caused him trauma.
