Alec Baldwin Allegedly Lied About His Involvement In ‘Rust’ Assistant Director’s Death, Should Face Charges
Alec Baldwin is accused of lying regarding his involvement in the death of Halyna Hutchins, the director of Rust.
While speaking with George Stephanopoulos, Baldwin claimed that he didn’t pull the trigger on Hutchins. He also said that he won’t point the gun at anyone regardless of whether he knew that it was loaded or not.
Baldwin added that it took him 45 minutes to realize that Hutchins had died and that he injured Rust director Joel Souza because he was asked to leave the set shortly after the shooting happened.
Following the interview, more questions arose because Baldwin’s accounts seemed to contradict each other.
Today, new details from the ongoing investigation emerged, and it revealed that Hutchins was just 18 inches away from the gun that Baldwin was holding on the set of their movie in New Mexico.
According to special effects coordinator Thomas Gandy, Hutchins was within close proximity to Baldwin because she wanted to see how the actor was working his thumb on the hammer to do the shot.
Gaffer Serge Svetnoy said that he was the one that caught Hutchins after Baldwin shot him. The assistant director said that something happened to her stomach and that she couldn’t feel her legs before she passed out.
Costume designer Terese Davis said that someone kept saying that Hutchins was stable. And so no one wanted to believe that what happened was very serious. But Gandy knew that Hutchins had been shot, according to Fox News.
In Touch Weekly, in its Dec. 20 issue, said that Baldwin did himself more harm than good when he sat down for an interview with ABC News 20/20.
“Mainly because he seems to be changing his story a little. Suddenly he’s saying he didn’t even pull the trigger. And he didn’t know for 45 minutes to an hour that she’d been shot? Let’s just say there were more questions than answers after this interview,” the source said.
As of late, investigations are still ongoing and authorities are still figuring out what really happened during that October morning.
But during Baldwin’s interview, the actor seemed confident when he said that experts and those knowledgeable about the case told him that he couldn’t be charged with anything.
After all, what happened was an accident. And Baldwin has also been cooperating with the investigators.
