Matt Damon is very supportive of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship. But the same cannot be said years ago.

In its Nov. 8 issue, OK! magazine claimed that Damon had reservations about Affleck and Lopez’s relationship in the early 2000s. After all, he was convinced that Affleck’s career will be affected due to his sudden rise to fame because of Lopez.

“All the attention went to his head and when Matt voiced his concerns about what it may do to Ben’s career, they had a falling out. They didn’t speak for months, but Ben finally came to his senses and realized Matt was only looking out for him,” the source said.

Affleck and Lopez’s relationship didn’t last very long at the time. And the A-listers were also forced to call off their engagement.

So, everyone was surprised when the exes got back together. And Affleck and Lopez realized that they wanted to try and see if their relationship would work this time around.

Luckily for the couple, they have Damon’s support. In fact, the Good Will Hunting actor is one of Affleck and Lopez’s biggest cheerleaders.

“But he’s now their biggest cheerleader because he’s gotten to know Jen all over again. Matt can see how happy she makes Ben. He will always be protective of him and Ben is beyond grateful. These guys are bonded for life,” the source said.

During a recent interview, Damon was asked to comment on Affleck and Lopez’s relationship.

While speaking with Jess Cagle on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, the host said that he knows Damon loves being asked about Lopez and Affleck’s relationship because he seems so happy about it.

The actor said that he’s definitely happy for his best friend and Lopez. Damon also said that he’s rooting for true love.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that Affleck and Lopez’s relationship is becoming more serious. Even though they only got back together earlier this year, the couple could reportedly end up at the altar.

“They are both super passionate and are head over heels with each other, just like they once were. This time around, however, they both really feel like this is it. Everything feels 100 percent natural with them. Once they rekindled, it was like no time had passed. They couldn't be more in agreement. They feel at this point in their lives they were undeniably made for each other,” the source said.
