Katie Holmes and Emilio Vitolo surprised the world with their PDA-filled romance last year.

However, the couple also shocked their supporters when they stopped hanging out.

Six months have already passed since Holmes and Vitolo called it quits, and a tabloid recently claimed to know why they split.

In its Nov. 1 issue, OK! magazine claimed that Holmes decided to end things with Vitolo after realizing that her work is more important to her.

A source also claimed that Holmes doesn’t want to date anyone right now because she’s focused on her career.

“She is really excited about doing more directing. And when she’s not working, the star prefers spending her time with her daughter or just curled up with a good book. But she is a romantic at heart, so it’s not like she’s going to stay single forever,” the source said.

However, the tabloid’s recent claims do not seem to coincide with previous reports regarding Holmes and Vitolo’s split.

More reputable sources previously claimed that Holmes and Vitolo decided to end their romance because of the actress’s busy schedule.

Since Holmes is busy with her acting career, as well as her directorial debut, she could no longer spend as much time with Vitolo.

Following the exes’ split, other tabloids claimed to know why Holmes and Vitolo ended things.

In May, In Touch Weekly alleged that Holmes pulled away from Vitolo after realizing that the chef is not good for her.

“It was just that Katie started to wonder if Emilio – an aspiring actor – had ulterior motives for dating her. In the beginning, Katie’s friends warned her that he was using her for fame. She was blinded by love and refused to listen. But once the honeymoon phase was over, she started to question whether they were right all along,” the source said.

Weeks earlier, National Enquirer also claimed that Holmes struggled with all the changes that she saw in Vitolo.

One of these changes had to do with Vitolo looking at other girls while he’s out with Holmes.

Other tabloids also accused the chef of using Holmes because of her connections, but none of these allegations were proven.

Holmes has not opened up about her split from Vitolo so no one knows for sure what really happened between the two.

But one thing is for sure and that is Holmes has already moved on from her ex-boyfriend.
