SBS released a lot of dramas in the first half of 2021, including the second and third season of The Penthouse: War in Life. Reportedly, the South Korean TV network took no. 1 in ratings from January 1 to June 30 of this year, recording 13.5 percent of average household ratings.
In the second half of 2021, SBS is expected to release more programs that will catch the attention of many. Most of the series will have a different genre, giving viewers a slice of drama, romance, and comedy. Here are the line-ups for the remaining months of the year.
Now, We Are Breaking Up
Now, We Are Breaking Up is one of the most highly-anticipated dramas coming in the second half of 2021 on SBS. The series stars Song Hye Kyo, which is her comeback program since 2018’s Encounter. Other main cast includes Jang Ki Yong, Choi Hee Seo, and Kim Joo Heon.
Now, We Are Breaking Up is directed by Dr. Romantic 2’s Lee Gil Bok. The story centers on love and breakups in the romantic world. The official release date of the series hasn’t been disclose as of yet, but it is set to air every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM KST.
Us That Year
Us That Year is another upcoming drama on SBS this 2021. The series is a reunion project for Kim Da Mi and Choi Woo Shik, who starred together in the movie The Witch. The romantic comedy is directed by Kim Yoon Jin and written by Lee Na Eun.
Us That Year follows ex-lovers who were forced to reunite because of the documentary they filmed when they were still in high school. Kim Da Mi plays Gook Yeon Soo, while Choi Woo Shik portrays Choi Woong. No release date has been set, but the series has a total of 16 episodes.
Those Who Read Hearts Of Evil
Those Who Read Hearts Of Evil is an upcoming criminal psychology drama. The series stars Kim Nam Gil as the main lead. This is going to be his comeback project to the small screen after 2019’s The Fiery Priest. Jin Seon Kyu and Kim So Jin also star in the new drama.
Those Who Read Hearts Of Evil is based on a novel of the same name by Go Na Moo and Kwon Il Yong. The plot centers on criminal profilers who are struggling to read the minds of serial killers. Kim Nam Gil plays Song Ha-Young, a criminal profiler who can read people’s minds.
One The Woman
One The Woman is another comedy series coming in the second half of 2021 on SBS. It depicts the story of two women who looks the same but have a different perspective in life. One day, their lives switched and they lose all their memories, which resulted in chaos.
One The Woman stars Honey Lee as the female lead, playing both the characters of tough female detective Jo Yeon Joo and conservative housewife Kang Mi Na. The series is directed by Choi Young Hoon and written by Kim Yoon. It is scheduled for every Friday and Saturday slot.
Lovers Of The Red Sky
Lovers Of The Red Sky is a period drama starring Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Gong Myung. The series is set during the Joseon era and it revolves around a female painter named Hong Cheon Ki. She is a genius woman who eventually falls in love with Ha Ram, a blind man.
Lovers Of The Red Sky is directed by Hyena’s Jang Tae Yoo and written by Be Melodramatic’s Kim Young Young. It is scheduled for the Monday-Tuesday drama slot of SBS. The series is set to premiere on August 9, 2021, until September 28, 2021.
