Ellen DeGeneres Allegedly Leaving Hollywood After ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Ends
Ellen DeGeneres is allegedly desperate to escape Hollywood once her daytime variety comedy talk show ends. One tabloid claimed that she is going to explore Africa to clear up her mind in order to save her marriage with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
A recent report from Globe asserted that DeGeneres wants to get out of Hollywood and explore Africa instead. The talk show host is allegedly leaving the industry when The Ellen DeGeneres Show wrapped up sometime this 2021.
To further support its claim, the outlet cited a source who said that a trip to Africa is something that DeGeneres needs so she could plan out her next move. Allegedly, she’s heading to a gorilla sanctuary to clear her mind and save her marriage.
“Ellen needs to spend time with the gorillas she feels so passionately about. It will help recharge her batteries and reconnect with Portia away from all the work turmoil,” the insider continues.
However, there are a few questionable claims in the article. First, the talk show host is not quitting her program. Although it is indeed ending, DeGeneres stays until her contract expires in 2022. And even though it is coming to an end, other projects are coming down the road.
It is unlikely that she’s leaving Hollywood for good as there are a lot of works on her list – including Little Ellen and Little Funny. The outlet only insisted that she will spend time with the gorillas to set her mind straight, but didn’t provide details to prove the claim.
While it’s true DeGeneres owns a sanctuary in Africa, there’s no clear indication that she’s heading there once the daytime show concludes. In addition, her relationship with de Rossi is still going strong and there’s no evidence that their marriage needs some saving.
Meanwhile, the same tabloid has been publishing several stories involving DeGeneres. It previously claimed that she is one of the meanest people alive, and also asserted that she “smells and can’t stop eating.” But then, both of these reports have been debunked, as well.
In a related report, former host of her own talk show Rosie O’Donnell commented on DeGeneres's exit in her daytime program and called it “complicated.” She was once known as “The Queen of Nice” during the run on The Rosie O'Donnell Show, which ended in 2002.
In the episode of SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, O'Donnell answered the question of whether her moniker negatively affected her. This came from DeGeneres’ statement that being nice to everyone had come back to "bite her in the ass" as she was accused of several things before.
O’Donnell revealed it impacted her since people’s perceptions changed. Yet, she explained that: “I said the day it came out, ‘look at this, the queen of nice. In a couple of years it’s going to be the queen of lice, the queen of fried rice, you know, the queen of we don’t like her anymore.”
She also made it clear that her experiences differ from DeGeneres. O’Donnell noted it's a lot for the latter and it’s complicated, but she is glad that she going to finish her show and will have the chance to get some time for herself.
