Will Meghan Markle Attend Unveiling Of Late Princess Diana’s Statue? Pall Says ‘No!’
The statue of the late Princess Diana will be unveiled this coming July 1, 2021. It is expected that her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, will attend the ceremony. Since the Duke of Sussex is coming, some wondered whether his wife, Meghan Markle, is going, as well. Now, a recent poll has found that the Duchess of Sussex should not come.
On June 17, Express.co.uk poll, which ran from 8 am to 8 pm, asked viewers if Markle should attend the unveiling of the Princess of Wales’ statue. This came after a report from a US website, Radar Online, claimed that the Duchess of Sussex is returning to the UK in July with Prince Harry.
But then, a few reports surfaced after that, claiming that she won’t be attending the event since she has just given birth to their second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. The Sussexes welcomed their first daughter on June 4.
In the aforementioned poll, 12,005 people (94.6 percent of respondents) answered “No”. Out of 12,679 respondents, only 599 (4.72 percent) said that Markle should accompany Prince Harry and must attend the event. Then, 75 respondents (0.59 percent) were in between.
Reportedly, some of the royal fans who answered in the poll believe that the “Duchess of Sussex was not welcome in the UK”. One reader said, “Meghan Markle shouldn't accompany Harry, as it will only be a distraction from what is to be Diana's day.”
However, even without the poll, it looks like Markle has no plans to go to the UK and accompany Prince Harry in the event. Sources close to the couple noted that the Duchess of Sussex will be staying in their house in California with their kids, Archie and Lilibet.
The unveiling of the late Princess Diana’s statue will be held on July 1, which would have been her 60th birthday. The statue will be placed in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace. Yet, the palace officials hadn’t disclosed any information on its exact location.
Richard Fitzwilliams said unveiling the statue of the late Princess of Wales could bring the Royal Family close together after Prince Harry and Markle stepped down as senior members of the Firm in 2020. Since then, rumors about an alleged rift between the couple and family have been tailing them.
In recent months, the Royal Family was involved in controversies after the Sussexes made claims against the Firm in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Fitzwilliams said that Princess Diana would have wished Prince William and Prince Harry “to be on the same road rather than different paths.”
