Kang Daniel Confirms TV Comeback, Currently Filming New Reality Show
Kang Daniel is set to treat his fans with a new reality TV show. The K-pop idol has confirmed that he is making his TV comeback very soon after months in hiatus.
Kang Daniel's agency, KONNECT Entertainment, confirmed that the "Touchin'" singer is currently filming in the U.S. for his upcoming TV show. The show, titled Hello, Daniel, will reportedly air on SBS but its premiere date has yet to be finalized.
"It's true that Kang Daniel is filming in the States right now. He is making a comeback on TV but we haven't decided on a specific broadcasting period," KONNECT Entertainment said in a statement (via Koreaboo).
The label added that the Wanna One alum is also planning to release a comeback album. However, nothing has been finalized as of yet.
Kang Daniel fans, also called DANITY, have expressed excitement over the singer's comeback. Some also posted their hope that Daniel could be able to rest well before his return on the spotlight.
DANITY has been missing the singer since he went on a hiatus in December after his agency confirmed that he has been suffering from depression and anxiety. He first canceled his pre-recording for MBC Music's Show Champion due to health problems. Then he eventually halted the promotions for his single "Touchin" altogether and had yet to announce any official schedules until this day.
Early this year, KD posted a handwritten letter to his fans. He revealed in the letter that he has gotten better and hinted that he wishes to get back to work again.
Daniel was last starred on a TV show in MBC's It's Dangerous Beyond the Blankets. He returned in the second season of the South Korean variety show along with EXO member Xiumin and Yong Jun Hyun.
The Produce 101 Season 2 grand winner first took a six-month hiatus from the entertainment industry after Wanna One got disbanded in December 2018 and had their final concert in January 2019. During his hiatus, Daniel admitted that he has been in conflict with his agency, LM Entertainment.
Their conflict in Daniel's contract ended up in court, which the singer eventually won. From there, the 23-year-old singer took over the management of his career and established his own agency.
Daniel dropped his first extended play, Color on Me, as a solo artist in July 2019. The EP was a success. It broke both the highest first-day and first-week sales record by a solo artist in the history of Korea's Hanteo Chart.
