Twin Girls For Meghan Markle and Prince Harry? Why Duchess Could Be Carrying Two Babies
Meghan Markle is, reportedly, going to announce that she is having twin girls in her special interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS on Mar. 7.
Sources told New Idea that the Duchess of Sussex has made no secret that she wants to have two daughters since this will be her last pregnancy. It's unclear if twins run in Meghan's family but two babies on one pregnancy is not common in the British royal family.
The last twin birth in Harry's family line was in 1430, when Queen Joan, the wife of James I, had two boys -- James and Alexander. The younger twin, however, did not survive while James went on to become the king after his father.
But a twin birth is still possible with the advances in medicine today. To make this happen, she and Prince Harry have gone to a Los Angeles fertility clinic in mid-2020, where they were photographed leaving the building.
According to the scoop, Meghan, who is 39, was given gonadotropin by her fertility doctors to ensure her twin pregnancy. Studies claimed that the trigger shot gives 30 percent more chances for multiples.
This is not the first time reports claimed Meghan is expecting twins. The same rumor also surfaced when she was pregnant with Archie Harrison in late 2018. People in the U.K. were betting on the Duchess of Sussex's twin birth.
However, New Idea was also the same tabloid that reported Meghan and Harry's "divorce" on the day the couple announced the second pregnancy. The news outlet also reported Harry's military service in Afghanistan in 2008, breaking an agreement with Buckingham Palace to not reveal this information for the sake of the Duke of Sussex's safety. Because of this, Harry had to be pulled out of duty due to security concerns.
Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry made their first appearance on the virtual platform after announcing they are expecting baby number two. The couple briefly graced a Spotify event as the media outfit unveiled its plans for 2021.
Their short clip was taken from their couch in their Montecito home, where Meghan concealed her baby bump with an Oscar de la Renta peplum dress. However, Meghan has shown her pregnant belly when they made the announcement with a photo taken by Misan Harriman.
Speculations are that the Duchess of Sussex is almost halfway through the second term of her pregnancy, which means that she'll give birth between late spring or early summer. Harry's cousin, Zara Tindall, is also expected to give birth to her third baby around that time, while another cousin, Princess Eugenie, has given birth to her first baby this February.
