Thomas Markle may be estranged from his daughter, Meghan Markle, but he's still hoping that he would still see or meet his grandchildren one day despite the family rift.

Speaking with the press, the Duchess of Sussex's father wished Meghan and Harry a "successful, healthy birth" for their second baby. The couple announced that they are expecting an addition to their family after experiencing a miscarriage in July 2020.

Thomas, who lives in Mexico, has yet to meet Archie, his first grandson, who is currently in Montecito, California with his parents. Despite the distance between Mexico and California, the grandfather couldn't plan a visit as he's been estranged from Meghan since her royal wedding to Harry in 2018. He has also been isolating due to the coronavirus.

Meghan's older sister, Samantha Markle, has called out the duchess for leaving out her entire family. In a televised interview on an Australian morning show, Samantha said that the chance to resolve this family rift lies with Meghan and she hopes that her sister will finally mend things with their father, who has claimed that his health is failing.

Meanwhile, sources told People that Meghan and Harry felt nervous about this pregnancy because it happened "so quickly" after her miscarriage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took a while to relax and enjoy the process after losing what would have been their second child.

This child will be a Sussex rainbow baby, who will make Archie, a big brother. Archie is set to celebrate his second birthday in May. The source said that Meghan and Harry always wanted to have a sibling "close in age" for their eldest son.

On Mar. 7, Meghan will be discussing the pregnancy and her new life in California for the very first time in a televised "tell-all" interview with Oprah Winfrey. The TV host's best friend, Gayle King, said that Winfrey was told she could ask anything she wants. However, sources at Buckingham Palace said that the Sussex pair will never undermine Queen Elizabeth as they have the "greatest respect and love" for Her Majesty.

There have been speculations that this interview could be the nail in the coffin for Harry and Meghan's return to royal life as the Queen could strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal patronages.
