Ryan Reynolds Reflects On His Cameo On 'Jeopardy!' Following Alex Trebek's Death
Ryan Reynolds opened up about the last episodes of Alex Trebek and his cameo on the game show. The 44-year-old actor said that it is an honor to be a part of the show, which is currently going on air following the host's death.
The late host has already recorded a number of shows before his death, and the network telecasted those episodes till Dec. 25. Interestingly, both the celebrities are Canadian, and Reynolds recalled this in the latest tweet. The Deadpool star took Twitter to pay tribute to the host and said that it is an honor to work with Trebek while at the same time, it is a little heartbreaking.
The Jeopardy!'s Twitter handle also posted a short clip of the actor and captioned that two legendary Canadians came together to entertain through this show. The post further revealed that the late host's glimpse would be seen in Reynolds' upcoming movie, Free Guy.
The actor promoted his comedy action movie, which was set to release on Dec.10, but the dates have been pushed forward due to the ongoing pandemic. Besides promoting his film, the actor virtually asked the contestants for a quiz.
Reynolds asked about the non-player characters in the video game, as in his own upcoming film, the stars went rogue. While there are many cameos in the movie, including professional gamers and streamers, Trebek will also appear on the big screen for the last time.
The death news broke on Nov. 8 following the late host’s pancreatic cancer battle. The veteran host was honored by several celebrities, including Reynolds. The actor revealed that despite the ongoing battle with cancer, the host was kind to come on the sets of the film and do a cameo.
The National Lampoon's Van Wilder star wrote further that Trebek was not only funny but also gracious. The actor went on to praise the legendary host and said that he was generous, stalwart, curious, and of course, a Canadian.
Besides celebrities, Jeopardy! champions also paid tribute to the veteran, including Steve Harvey, John Legend, Ken Jeong, and Ken Jennings. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau also noted that the late host had a huge impact on television for almost three decades.
He further said that the host not only entertained but also educated people across the globe. Moreover, he sent deepest condolences to Trebek's friends and family and everyone who mourned his death.
