Kanye West’s Christmas gift for everyone is here, as the rapper dropped his newest album in the form of an extended play entitled Emmanuel.
Kanye West x Sunday Service Choir
American rapper-record producer Kanye surprisingly released a new extended play entitled Emmanuel that is a Sunday Service Choir. NME reported that the album is inspired by ancient and Latin music, making it one of its kind.
Kanye’s Emmanuel bottles up five tracks that sing of the celebration of the miracle of Jesus Christ’s birth. It hailed a credit to the Sunday Service Choir and was executive produced by the rapper.
Moreover, it features a new version of the hymn Gloria and a Christian prayer in Requiem Aeternam. Other songs in the album are O Mira Nox, O Magnum Mysterium, and Puer. Although not specified by Kanye, Emmanuel means “God is with us.”
Emmanuel follows Kanye West’s Jesus Is Born
The 43-year-old rapper previously released a Christmas album, also a surprise one, entitled Jesus Is Born. It also has the same theme and concept as Emmanuel, which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
According to Deadline, Jesus Is Born finishes at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums upon its release. The predecessor of the album is Jesus Is King, which debuted in October last year.
Furthermore, the Sunday Service Choir is also featured and credited in the said album. The group is Kanye-managed, which started in the early part of last year.
The Sunday Service Choir first held its first public Sunday Service in Coachella 2019 during Easter Sunday.
