Alison Brie Reflects On 'Promising Young Woman' And 'GLOW'
Alison Brie's latest release, Promising Young Woman, has been premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and receiving positive reviews. It's been a long year for the 37-year-old actress as her four feature films garnered rave feedback and dropped to Netflix hits in the same year.
In fact, BoJack Horseman’s final episodes were also released a couple of days before her latest release. The movie showcases a revenge tale of Emerald Fennell that also features Cassie Thomas' character portrayed by Carey Mulligan, who wants retaliation.
The character gets traumatized in her medical school by her own classmates, and eventually, she has to leave school. Brie portrayed Madison's character, who plays an essential role in the revenge planned by Cassie.
The actress said that she already knew that she would be a part of this project as soon as she read the storyline. Brie praised the script and said that every scene was popping in front of her while reading it.
The actress also acknowledged the writer and director of the movie, Fennell, for attracting many talented artists. She noted that many celebrities agree to portray one or two scenes in her projects, and now, she could understand the reason behind it.
Brie further said that the script was unexpected, and out of curiosity, she couldn't stop turning the pages over and over again. She noted that the story's unique idea made her excited about the project as no one has seen anything like this before.
Netflix’s Horse Girl was co-written by Brie that was received well on the streaming platform, and stayed Brie’s most acclaimed performance so far. Recently, her husband, Dave Franco, also made his directorial debut with The Rental, in which Brie played the lead character.
The actress also appeared on Happiest Season, and it became one of the most-watched original movies on the Hulu platform. Although there has been some trouble with the actress following her Netflix's GLOW got canceled.
Yes, the actress said that she was looking forward to the show as she already shot a couple of episodes before the coronavirus lockdown took place in March. However, she noted that the launch date kept changing amid the COVID situation, which made her realize that the show might get canceled.
“It’s something that was not really made public, but what we all knew behind the scenes was that the date at which we might go back to shoot kept pushing and pushing and pushing," she added.
