Tom Cruise COVID-19 Rant Branded As Publicity By Leah Remini
The public is still divided over what to think of Tom Cruise’s rant on the latest Mission Impossible film set because of alleged violations of COVID-19 health guidelines. One actress who firmly believes Cruise should not be lauded is Leah Remini.
Page Six reports that the 50-year-old actress and former member of the Church of Scientology believe that Cruise’s publicized rant is merely meant for “public relations” and alleged that the 58-year-old actor and prominent Scientologist does not really care for the film’s crew.
Remini’s statement comes in the form of a blog post, where she insisted that Cruise does not believe in family values and that the incident should fool nobody. Remini also claimed that the rant was written for Cruise and recorded by someone from the Church of Scientology.
HuffPost adds that Remini also called Cruise an abusive person, saying that she has been subjected to it and witnessed it on a number of occasions. She also said that Cruise's former girlfriends, employees, and friends have also told her stories of his abuse.
Remini says that this is Cruise’s true personality and that the actor is a deeply troubled person. She also says this is the result of Cruise being told by the Church of Scientology that he is a godlike figure, with Cruise thinking that he dictates how films are made.
While Cruise himself has not responded to Remini’s allegations, the Church of Scientology has branded her as “unreliable,” saying that her attacks are fueled by “publicity and money.” They also insisted that they have consistently promoted actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Aside from Cruise, the whole of Hollywood has been rocked by a number of abuse allegations over the past year, with perpetrators ranging from executives to hosts and showrunners. Back in October, NBCUniversal’s top unscripted exec was removed after being found to have exhibited homophobic, misogynistic, and racist behavior.
According to a report, NBCUniversal executive Meredith Ahr mocked workers so badly that they would end up crying. Her division was also supposedly known for its toxicity, an environment that Ahr, allegedly, encouraged.
Ellen DeGeneres was also another famous name that was involved in allegations of abuse and toxic workplace behavior. The Buzzfeed report on her behavior spurred an investigation, the resignation of three producers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and DeGeneres herself apologizing on her show.
Actor Ray Fisher accused director Joss Whedon of being unprofessional and abusive on the set of Justice League. His accusations resulted in an investigation of the director.
