'Forget You' Singer Cady Groves Dies At 30
Metro Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron said Cady Groves was found dead by a roommate Saturday evening in her Nashville home. The police didn't find pieces of evidence hinting at criminal or violent activities and PR firm Big Hassle Media released a statement saying that a coroner suspended chances of self-harm.
The Forget You singer had tested positive for COVID-19. Her brother, Cody Groves took to social media to reveal that Groves was battling some medical problems last fall. The Big Hassle statement also suggests she died from natural causes; however, a final coroner’s report is yet to confirm that.
Cady is third siblings in the Groves family who relinquished life at an early age. Cody took to his Twitter handle on May 4 to announce Cady's death. He said details about her death are still few and far between, but family will be leaving no stone unturned in a bid to get them, adding that they will keep her fans updated.
Furthermore, Cody said that the medical examiner has completed the autopsy and no signs of foul play or self-harm were detected. In other words, he said, Cady died of natural causes, explaining that the singer had some medical problems last fall and until further testing is carried out, the family suggests the aforesaid medical problems surfaced, leading up to her death.
The youngest of seven kids, Groves wanted to be a singer. When Groves was a kid, her dad played drums in a honkey tonk band, she revealed in an interview with After Buzz TV back in 2016. When she received a drum set for Christmas, Groves knew she was headed straight to a future in the music industry.
Her first EP dubbed A Month of Sundays was made available to the public in 2009 and just a year after releasing her first EP independently, she came up with her second EP titled The Life of a Pirate and grabbed the attention of several major labels due to social media attention.
That same year, Cady left for a nationwide tour along with Good Charlotte and Third Eye Blind. She later left the label citing creative differences and signed with indie Vel Records. Her biggest release in association with the new label was 2012's This Little Girl, which was followed by 2015's Dreams, which turned out to be her final album before her death.
Cady's older brother Cody Grooves died in 2006 due to prescription drug overdoes. He was 28. Just seven years later, her brother Kelly also died due to prescription drug overdoes at 28 after an automobile accident.
