Donald Trump's Campaign Releases 'American Comeback' Ad That Ties Election To Economic Recovery
The ad features super dramatic music, coupled with emotive quotes from Trump, who has deemed the fight against coronavirus as war. "With the grace of God we will win this war," the president says, adding "we will win this war quickly."
The recently unveiled video promotes both economical, as well as a personal comeback. It also refers to Trump's past in the form cribs from his book, Trump: The Art of the Comeback, which he wrote in collaboration with journalist Kate Bohner at the time when his Atlantic City casinos almost caused him a total financial meltdown. The narrative-style video uses quick cuts to dramatize actions taken against the virus.
It highlights a series of polls that show a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump's way of handling the pandemic, and days after the president's own campaign manager was involved in a noisy argument with him over internal polls hinting at a loss. The ad also shows a slew of dramatic images including the USNS Comfort hitting the New York harbor.
It is worth mentioning here that the ship left last week after helping 182 patients recover over 31 days. Aside from that, the ad shows a U.S. aircraft carrier, even though the USS Roosevelt had to leave for Guam due to a coronavirus outbreak that triggered the firing of Captain Brett Crozier, who was reinstated recently.
It shows New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo thanking the president for providing equipment, but also expressed annoyance on his refusal to dole out aide states that are extremely short of money. Moreover, it shows Americans doing their duties during the pandemic that claimed over 60,000 lives across the nation.
It features a postal worker who is delivering mail, a nurse with a face covering, and a grocery store with lots of meat on the shelves, Daily Mail reported. Trump came up with an order that required meat-packing plants to operate even during the pandemic because a lot of these shops closed citing outbreaks among their workers.
The footage shows Trump assuring Americans that his administration will carry out all necessary steps to protect citizens from the threat, with a few cues that strike the media and Congress. It also shows House Speaker Nancy Pelosi destroying the president's speech during the State of the Union.
On top of that, it comprises short clips that hint at Trump's argumentative daily press briefings at the White House during the pandemic.
