Gwen Stefani recently divulged details about how she used music to cope with dyslexia, and her three sons are learning to do well in school. The No Doubt alum shares sons, Apollo, 6, Zuma, 12, and Kingston, 14, with ex-husband Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music for a new edition of his At Home With conversation series, the 51-year-old "Hollaback Girl" songstress said she found that she had dyslexia when her kids started having trouble reading. She attributed most of the problems she has had and the decisions she has made to dyslexia.

She went on to say that the learning disorder is obviously all genetic, considering that even her children have some of those issues. Stefani said her kids get a myriad of benefits including, having incredible teachers and schools, but more importantly, they don't have to be ashamed about it.

The mom of three said that her kids realize that their brain functions in a different way than others. Divulging details about her own experience, the pop singer said she failed at school, adding that although she was a good girl, it was hard for her to function in school that everybody else was expected to be understanding. She went on to admit that her brain still doesn't work like that.

Stefani said her brain's ability to work in different ways is probably gifts that other people can't do. Recalling how anxiety has affected her life, Stefani brought up her dyslexia, saying that during her early years as an artist and frontwoman of No Doubt, she wrote the whole record without even knowing how to write a song.

She recalled how she was dependent on Tony Kanal during her No Doubt days due to her dyslexia. Although she feels she lacked confidence at the time, Stefani said every time she wrote a song or got on stage, it felt great, and this was probably the only thing that was going right for her.

Things seem to be going great for the "Don't Speak" singer, amid her engagement to Blake Shelton in Oct. The Voice coaches duetted on the singing competition during the season 19 finale on Monday. The duo sang their hit “Happy Anywhere,” putting up quite a show, as they always do.

Gwen's engagement ring from the 44-year-old country music star was on full display, and she looked great in a black and white checkered crop top and miniskirt, which she wore under a matching long-sleeved flared-out top, per HollywoodLife. Blake wore a dark gray button-down shirt with black pants.
