Johnny Depp has been in the news for quite some time, mainly because of his libel lawsuit against The Sun, which had accused him of being a wife-beater. A tabloid had contended around a year ago that the actor planned to shift to Russia to begin a new inning in his life.

Johnny Depp may have lost the battle, but that does not mean he has been away from the limelight. A tabloid insisted that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor wanted to escape to Russia so stay away from the news and start his life fresh. 

It was also reported that the actor was facing a severe cash crunch, especially after quitting the Fantastic Beast franchise. So, he is looking for greener pastures like Russia to handle his financial problems and lead a relaxed life. 

The report also purported that the actor was going through a monetary crisis because of the legal expenses for his libel lawsuit against Amber Heard. Funnily enough, if there were a financial crunch, would the actor appeal to a higher court against a judge's ruling?

The magazine also conveniently forgot to mention that the actor owns several properties in various locations, including the Bahamas and France. However, none of these locations are close to Russia. 

The report also overlooked the fact that it was Depp who sued his former wife and not vice-versa. He would have hardly done so while going through a financial crisis. An insider close to the actor also confirmed that the story was incorrect and ridiculous, according to Gossip Cop. 

Additionally, the actor has been busy flying from the US to the UK for the lawsuit, which was being heard in the United Kingdom. So, there is hardly any time for him to relocate to Russia. 

Depp lost the first round when a judge of the high court ruled that The Sun had rightfully used the words “wife beater” against him. The verdict also mentioned that the actor used to physically assault Heard. 

Depp plans to appeal to the Court Of Appeal in the UK to overturn the verdict passed by the judge last month, according to Deadline. It is being said that the actor’s legal wrangle forced him to say goodbye to the Fantastic Beasts Franchise. 

Another interesting development is that Depp’s former girlfriends might be asked to share any communication the court deems appropriate, including text messages. Some names that have been particularly mentioned include Angelina Jolie and Keira Knightley though they were not romantically linked, according to Hollywood Life. 

However, Johnny Depp is not in a financial crisis as he will get paid for the film nevertheless. The actor has no intention to move to Russia as of date.
