Prince William reportedly tried to calm down his younger brother, Prince Harry after he saw him seething at their final royal engagement together.

In March, the royal siblings reunited at Westminster Abbey with their respective wives and the other members of the royal family. While there, the tension between the royal couples was evident.

While speaking with New Idea, royal commentator Phil Dampier talked about the previous royal engagement. He said that it’s strange since that’s the final image that royal fans have of the fab four together.

Since the Cambridges and Sussexes have had a falling out, it is unlikely for them to reunite anytime soon. Prince William and Kate Middleton are also quarantining at Anmer Hall while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in Los Angeles due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dampier also talked about the moment when Markle seemingly greeted Middleton at the royal engagement.

“Meghan was putting on a brave face and deliberately smiling - an act for the cameras. But you could tell that there were a definite rift and iciness between them, which is very sad - between brothers who were so close at one point and helped each other through difficult times,” he said.

Prior to the event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex learned that they won’t be processioning with Queen Elizabeth on their way to Westminster Abbey. After all, the royal couple already quit The Firm.

To show their support for the Sussexes, Prince William and Middleton decided to not also join the procession.

“William wanted to calm Harry down because he could see that he was seething about it. I don’t think he necessarily decided to do it because he agrees with what his brother has done or that he sympathizes with him. He probably did it purely for practical reasons to avoid Harry making the situation much worse,” he said.

Last month, National Enquirer claimed that Prince Harry made the decision to never return to the United Kingdom. A source told the tabloid that Prince William asked his younger brother to surprise Queen Elizabeth on her 94th birthday.

However, the Duke of Cambridge’s request left Prince Harry feeling enraged. He allegedly snapped at Prince William by saying that he won’t set foot on British soil again.

Prince Harry also remanded Prince William of how he and the other members of the royal family treated Markle. The heated confrontation between the royal siblings allegedly worsened their feud.
