What Happened To Prince William’s $1 Billion Coronation Last Summer?
There were previous claims that Prince William will be crowned as king in a $1 billion ceremony.
Last year, In Touch Weekly alleged that Queen Elizabeth believes that the future of the British monarchy relies on her grandson.
As such, the monarch changed the rules of the order of succession and decided that Prince William will succeed her and not Prince Charles.
To mark the Duke of Cambridge’s coronation, the queen, allegedly, planned a $1 billion ceremony for the future king of Britain.
A source claimed back then that Prince William’s coronation will take place in the summer of 2020.
And it doesn’t take much for royal fans to know that the summer of 2020 has come and gone and yet no coronation took place.
Gossip Cop revisited the tabloid’s story this week and said that their claims couldn’t have been true due to a number of reasons.
First, the queen doesn’t have the power to change the rules when it comes to the order of succession.
As such, Prince Charles will still be her heir. And the only time Prince Charles will be crowned as king is after the queen dies or abdicates.
Since abdicating is out of the picture for Her Majesty, the only way for Prince Charles to ascend the throne is after his mom dies.
But the queen is still alive and healthy, so there’s no way for Prince Charles to be crowned as king anytime soon.
With this, it is even more impossible for Prince William to be crowned as king because he’s second in line to the throne.
And the order of succession states that he will succeed Prince Charles. The only time that Prince William will become king is if his dad dies or abdicates.
During a previous interview, Kate Middleton’s husband admitted that he doesn’t like to think about the day when he is crowned as king.
After all, this means that the queen and Prince Charles would’ve already died by this time.
While speaking with Fox News, royal commentator Nick Bullen also said that Prince William will never leapfrog Prince Charles for the throne.
“You’re in no rush to get that job because for Charles to be King his mother would have to die, for William to be King his father would have to die - nobody wants that. It’ll happen in due course and William is in no rush for it,” he said.
