Many fans are already thrilled for the arrival of Riverdale Season 5. Having another installment of the popular American teen drama series, which is based on the characters of Archie Comics, means another year of romance, mystery, and a rollercoaster ride of emotions. So, what should viewers expect in the upcoming season?

Spoilers suggested that Riverdale Season 5 will pick up where the fourth installment left off. To recall, Season 4 ended with students looking for the best way to defeat Mr. Honey. However, everyone got distracted when super creepy videotapes were being sent around the town.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, previously revealed to Entertainment Weekly that there are a lot of big things waiting to happen in Riverdale Season 5. It was said that the fifth installment would start with a prom and graduation, which was supposed to be the last three episodes of the fourth season. After that, there would be a major time jump and that is something devoted followers of the show should watch out for.

Though the filming was put into a temporary halt due to the perils brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, a new trailer revealed that Riverdale Season 5 is premiering early next year. In fact, the teaser showed the new adventures and mysteries Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Archie (KJ Apa), and Veronica (Camila Mendes) need to solve.

Lili Reinhart shared that the time jump will take Jughead, Betty, Archie, Veronica and the rest of the characters seven years into the future. In the first teaser of Riverdale Season 5, Veronica announced that Betty and Archie did something that totally broke her heart.

Veronica and Archie’s romance will face more shakeups in Riverdale Season 5

Actress Marisol Nichols, also, divulged that there would be a lot of bad things head of Veronica and Archie after the time jump in Riverdale Season 5. She told Entertainment Tonight relationships can be complicated, especially, if you are a teenager, and that is something fans would see with Veronica. It remains to be seen, however, how will Veronica’s latest discovery affect her friendship with Betty, who she treats as a sister before.

Another cast member confirmed that some major couple upheavals are happening in Riverdale Season 5. Actor Mark Consuelos said, during a guesting on Quarantined with Bruce at SiriusXM, that people would change after the graduation. “It completely foregoes the college time in the chronological order and just jumps cut. People are in their [adult] lives. Some people are in different relationships," he revealed.
