Ellen DeGeneres Reveals Her Contraction With COVID-19
Ellen DeGeneres announced that she has contracted coronavirus. Yes, the 62-year-old comedian and host of popular daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has tested positive. The production of the talk show has been put on hold until next month as per the producers.
The show producers have issued a statement revealing that the show might resume in the first month of 2021, depending on DeGeneres' health. On the other hand, the host took Twitter to first disclose the contraction and said that she is feeling fine at the moment.
However, she noted that anyone who got close to her in recent days had been informed. The host said that she has been following the CDC guidelines properly. She addressed the quarantine period as holidays and said that she will return soon.
Moreover, she urged her fans and followers to stay safe and healthy. Looking at many netizens' responses, it seemed that they are still upset with the host for the misconduct allegations. In Sept., the show returned amid allegations by a couple of senior staff members, which led to the fire top three producers of the show.
DeGeneres apologized on-air and stated that she was unaware of the misconduct, but many viewers didn't believe the host. Even now, after she disclosed her coronavirus contraction, many people had negative feedback.
One of the users referred to her racist allegations and said that she is rich and white, because of which she will be able to get the treatment that is required. The user further noted that this is not the case for many people in the United States during the ongoing pandemic.
While another user questioned how she could get the COVID after following the protocols, one more user shared a personal experience of crossing paths with the host and called her rude. However, the talk show resumed with a capacity of only forty people while it used to normally have 300 people in the audience.
The taping of the show was filmed in the same studio. Besides the live audience, a couple of guests visited her studio for the interview, such as Diane Keaton, Bryan Cranston, Lil Nas X, and Justin Bieber.
DeGeneres faced much criticism during the summer on social media regarding the work environment and her behavior towards the staff members. She addressed them in the premiere of the 18th season. The comedian spoke about bullying, sexism, and racism allegations made on her and three producers.
