Kelly Loeffler Refuses To Acknowledge That Trump Lost The Election During Georgia Senate Debate
Senator Kelly Loeffler did not acknowledge that President Donald Trump was defeated by President-elect Joe Biden on Nov. 3 presidential election, as she debated her opponent, Reverend Raphael Warnock, a Democrat. This debate was held on Sunday, prior to the twin Georgia runoff elections that are expected to determine which party will be controlling the Senate.
There are several ways that Republicans have tried to justify Trump's attempt to overturn the election results, but the worst, according to The Washington Post's Greg Sargent, is the claim that the president is simply pursuing his legal right to contest the results. Loeffler repeated this assertion at a debate on Sunday.
The circumstances under which Loeffler reiterated the president's widespread voter fraud claims showed what's really at the core of the fanciful idea in all its anti-democratic glory, Sargent wrote. She really conveyed that many elected Republicans have no problem with Trump's drive to steal reverse the election results by adopting extralegal means.
When she was asked specifically about President-elect Joe Biden's victory in Georgia's key state and whether she supported Trump's claims of voter fraud, Loeffler dodged the matter. She tried sidestepping the matter by saying the president has the right to every legal recourse, and that's what's taking place.
The senator suggested there were irregularities in the recently concluded elections and repeated Trump's right to legal recourse. It is worth mentioning here that the Trump campaign has lost a series of post-election court challenges, including in Georgia, a state that has already certified its results.
Her Democratic opponent, Warnock, slammed her for raising questions over a legitimate election. Warnock noted that the people have spoken on the presidential election and are restlessly waiting for their senator to focus on them, rather than the person in the White House.
Loeffler indirectly admitted Trump's defeat by deeming the runoffs necessary to avoid a leftward march. She noted that everything is at stake in this election, including America's future, referring to the battle for control of the Senate.
Loeffler slammed radical liberal Raphael Warnock a dozen times and described the pastor as a socialist who would ensure everything, including assuming control of the U.S. healthcare system and seizing Americans' guns. Warnock, who is not a socialist, slammed Loeffler by calling her a self-interested, extremely wealthy politician, who not only lied on him, but on Jesus by highlighting and giving a misleading account of sermons he has delivered over the years, CBS News reported.
