Mindy Kaling Reflects On Her Children's Names Following 'Caucasian' Claims
Mindy Kaling responded to a fan for asking why she kept Caucasian names for her children while she claimed to be proud of her culture. The 41-year-old actress opened up about the middle names of her kids along with their meaning.
The actress shared a post on her social media for Vogue India on which one of her followers asked about the middle names of her kids, 2-month-old son Spencer, and 2-year-old daughter, Katherine, sarcastically.
"You are proud of your culture and I was wondering why the kids have very Caucasian names," the follower wrote. Kaling replied that her children do have Indian middle name revealing, Avu and Swati.
Swati was kept after the actress' late mother, while her son Avu is named after Kaling's father. The actress recently made an appearance on Vogue India's cover and disclosed how difficult self-isolation was during the pandemic.
While the actress said that she is not only a hard-working person but also a social person, she admitted that she has gone through a lot of growing pains amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, she noted that her daughter made it easier for her to survive the isolation as she is absolutely funny and fun to hang around.
Kaling disclosed that initially, they used to just stare at one another but soon, they got to know each other better. The actress revealed that before the lockdown and the global crisis, her father used to visit her granddaughter daily, but things changed because of the pandemic.
The actress shocked her fans back in October as she revealed that she had welcomed the bundle of joy in September. Kaling didn't even disclose when she became pregnant. Moreover, she captured herself in a glamourous cover for the fashion magazine after giving birth to the baby boy.
In fact, she revealed that the shoot of the cover was done after six weeks of delivering the baby. The actress confessed that she wasn't confident about her body and thought of refusing the photoshoot. Kaling further said that she wanted to break the barriers for Indian talent to perform in front of a global audience.
The actress said during the casting of her upcoming Netflix series, Never Have I Ever, which is being co-produced by Lang Fisher, she took an audition of 15,000 South Asian talents. Kaling also shared her excitement to work with Priyanka Chopra Jonas next year for an untitled project.
