Black Panther's Opening Montage Honors Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on Aug. 28 at the age of 43, will be remembered through Marvel's Black Panther in a special way. The latest opening montage of the Black Panther will highlight the title role of the late actor on his 44th birthday.
Bob Iger, Disney Executive Chairman, shared the updated opening title of Marvel on Twitter while the first glimpse was revealed on Disney Plus. The 69-year-old Chairman of Disney said that this is a special tribute for Boseman, who will always remain close to the hearts.
The actor died after battling colon cancer for four years. The actor kept the struggle away from the spotlight and never informed or hinted at his fans. He continued his work while going through several treatments and surgeries.
This is not the first time the studio has paid tribute. Back in 2018, when the Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee passed away, the special montage was added in Captain Marvel, released in the same year. However, fans continued mourning their idol's sudden death, and as Nov. 29 marked his 44th birthday, the legend was remembered by the netizens.
Boseman was raised in South Carolina's Anderson and studied at Digital Film Academy of New York City after finishing his studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The actor has been assistant to many popular mentors such as Phylicia Rashad, who worked in The Cosby Show and was also his teacher at Howard.
Similarly, Denzel Washington had paid for Boseman, including few more students, to join the Oxford Mid-Summer Program in England at the British American Drama Academy. In fact, during the Toronto International Film Festival in September, the 65-year-old actor spoke about Boseman in the virtual panel along with Barry Levinson.
Moreover, Washington addressed Boseman as a gentleman, great talent, and a gentle soul. He called that they both worked together in the last movie of Boseman, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. However, the actor noted that he wasn't the one who got cheated with a limited life but for us.
Washington further said that he prays for his family and wife, who got cheated on. However, he noted that Boseman lived his full life. Rashad also recalled how gentle Boseman was, including his unending curiosity. The 72-year-old actress said that he was fond of learning new things, and after looking at the work he has done over the past years, Boseman’s screen presence never fails to amaze.
