Amber Heard, Johnny Depp Domestic Violence: 911 Call Reveals Who's Lying?
The 911 call made by a “friend” of Amber Head to report the fight between the actress and Johnny Depp is published on Monday. It is unclear whether this implicates Johnny Depp or vindicates him.
The recording, which was released by Daily Mail raises pertinent questions on what truly happened in the fateful 2016 night that ultimately ended the marriage between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
The recording was timestamped around 8:30 PM on May 21, 2016. This is the night Heard said that Depp had hurt her to the point that he almost killed her. According to her, the “Pirates of Caribbean” actor has hit her, ripped out her hair and choked her.
In the 911 call released, a female voice can be heard reporting an assault taking place at the home of the celebrity couple. “Hi, I need to report an assault right now happening at 849 Broadway at the Eastern building, it’s penthouse three,” the called said.
The caller requested to remain anonymous and just said that it was Amber who specifically asked her to call to say that her boyfriend was physically hurting her. The friend asked the 911 operator to send somebody up there.
On the one hand, this essentially means that the abuse did take place, because who would call 911 and ask for people to go the scene if there’s no fight?
However, Depp’s camp said this call proves Heard lied. And whoever is on the call is on the whole hoax too. According to the actor’s lawyers, the female voice on the recording does not belong to iO Tillet Wright, who earlier on said he was the one who called 911. He’s a he, after all, and the recording has a female voice.
The call was also recorded in police logs at around 10 PM. The lawyers claimed that this discrepancy shows proof that Heard and some of her friends planned all these and set up the actor. “Quite simply, this was an ambush, a hoax. They set Mr. Depp up by calling the cops, but the first attempt didn’t do the trick,” Adam Waldman shared to Daily Mail.
Heard’s camp is not having it! They claimed Waldman is merely “fantasizing.” “Mr. Depp’s representations about the 911 call on the night of May 21, 2016, are false, and Mr. Depp and his lawyers should know better,” said Roberta Kaplan.
Tillett Wright’s lawyer said that his client was not the only one who contacted 911 that night. Another friend was also enlisted to make the phone call.
Whether this call can be Depp’s saving grace and Heard’s downfall, or vice versa, remains to be seen.
