Miley Cyrus opened up about her journey of sobriety and slipping during the pandemic. Yes, the 28-year-old singer and songwriter admitted that her six-month-long sobriety was challenged amid quarantine and she seems to have lost the battle.

However, the Disney star revealed that she is sober again for the last two weeks. In an interview on Apple Music with Zane Lowe, the singer spoke about making decisions under the influence of alcohol and everything she faced during the pandemic.

The singer admitted that she would love to be honest and accept the fact that she did slip during the pandemic. She further said that she is not one of those people who would sit in an interview and lie about being sober throughout the lockdown.

Cyrus said that one needs to be curious rather than being furious at themselves for whatever is happening in their life. She also confessed that she is not dealing with alcohol issues, but her decisions when she passed the intoxication level.

In fact, Cyrus advised her fans to take one step further and first figure out the root cause of the problem and why they decided to drink in the first place. She further said that she is not a person who does things in moderation, nor does she want everyone to stay sober.

The singer noted that last year was extremely important for her health because celebrities such as Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain passed away due to addiction at the age of 27. The pop star said that she wanted to protect herself and stay sober.

The singer celebrated her birthday by sharing a sweet video on social media that featured her childhood moments. The homemade videos from the past included her Britney Spears' impression in I'm A Slave 4 U dropped in 2001 and her cheerleading moments.

She also noted that her family history motivates her to look after her health and understand struggles related to alcohol better. She also spoke about her vocal cord surgery in 2019 on the Big Ticket Podcast by Variety. She revealed that there are many mental health and addiction challenges in her family history.

Cyrus told that her mother, Tish Cyrus was an adopted child because of which she wanted to prove to the singer that she values her all the time. On the other hand, her father, Billy Ray Cyrus' parents got divorced, and he raised himself on his own.
