Arrest Made In Connection To 'Duck Dynasty' Drive-By Shooting
What was meant to be a quiet time spent isolating in their family home turned dangerous after a drive-by shooting occurred on “Duck Dynasty” star Willi Robertson’s estate. Now, arrests have been made in connection to the incident.
USA Today reports that 38-year-old Daniel King Jr. has been charged by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office. The charges brought against King are one count of criminal neglect of family and one count of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting.
As recounted by the publication, the shooting incident happened on Friday afternoon, with Robertson saying that one of the bullets went through the home where his son John Luke Robertson was staying, along with his wife Mary Kate McEachern and their child. While the shots hit the house’s bedroom windows, neither Robertson, McEachern, nor their child was hurt during the shooting.
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, King was not the only one in the vehicle when the drive-by shooting occurred, although the police have no intention of making new arrests. The site also compiled reactions from the Robertson family regarding the incident.
According to Willie Robertson, it was lucky that none of their family was outside when the shooting happened. His wife, Korie, gave credit to “God’s protection” as the reason why none of them were injured by the shooting. Korie described the shooting as “scary and dangerously close.”
Sadie, Willie and Korie’s daughter, said in an Instagram post that the whole family was “shook” but also thankful that everyone in their family is okay. After reassuring her followers that she and her family are okay, she also thanked them for worrying about them.
Robertson and his family found fame in 2012 thanks to the A&E reality show “Duck Dynasty,” which ran until 2017. Throughout its 11 seasons, the show chronicled the lives of the Robertson family, who had grown rich thanks to their duck call “Duck Commander.” During its fourth season, the show drew more than 11 million viewers, which made it the most-watched nonfiction show in the history of cable television.
It was also earning millions in advertising revenue. In 2013, advertising sales amounted to $80 million, while the sale of merchandise resulted in $400 million more in revenue.
Hopefully, no more untoward incidents happen to the family, as it looks like they will be spending even more time isolating since coronavirus infections around the world do not seem to slow down. The World Health Organization has revealed that confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world are now at 2,954,222 people. Fatalities caused by COVID-19 is now at 202,597 people.
