Prince William and Kate Middleton are senior Royal Family members. As such there are certain traditions that this royal couple is expected to follow. 

 

The Duchess of Cambridge has to regularly move out as she represents Queen Elizabeth II on several occasions. Middleton is expected to adhere to some royal practices when she is in the public eye. 

 

Being married to Prince William means that the Duchess is an important member of the British Royal Family. However, Middleton appears to be relaxed in her position. It also appears that the monarch is quite pleased with her and they share a close relationship. 

 

Although the Duchess has been following royal protocols most of the time, there have been certain occasions when she allegedly did not adhere to the usual tradition. For example, all important members of the Royal Family are typically expected to participate in certain events. 

 

Though Middleton generally makes an appearance in these events, there have been a few occasions when she decided to skip them. She opted to stay with her kids when Princess Charlotte was only 1-year-old over attending an official engagement.

 

In 2016, Kate Middleton did not present a shamrock to the first battalion Irish guard for St. Patrick’s Day, which she usually does. According to a statement released by the Palace, she did not attend the event because she wanted to spend time with her kids before her tour to Bhutan and India. However, the statement also assured that she will attend the event in the future, Daily Express reports. 

 

The members of the Royal Family in Britain, who are close to the line of succession, typically do not travel together. The rule was implemented for protecting the family in case anything goes wrong. 

 

The protocol, though, is not strictly followed by William and his wife. The Duke of Cambridge and his wife often move in the same vessel when they are on official duties and family trips. 

 

Meanwhile, being a senior royal member also means that Middleton has to follow certain style norms in her public life. For instance, the usual practice for the royals is not to wear short outfits and avoid dresses with v-necks. 

 

Melita Latham, a stylist told Daily Express that the Duchess has to also follow certain style rules. Latham said that she is certain “Kate wanders around Kensington Palace in joggers and a T-shirt” just like many others. 

 

However, when Kate Middleton is in the public eye, she prefers to wear sensible outfits. The Duchess has been following royal rules and yet has managed to create a style of her own.
