Demi Lovato Takes A Dig At Her Own Broken Engagement With Max Ehrich
Demi Lovato hosted the People's Choice Awards this year and she took a dig at her own broken engagement. The 28-year-old singer kicked off the ceremony on Nov. 15 with I Love Me, followed by a monologue in which she spoke about her ex-fiance, Max Ehrich.
Lovato and Ehrich have broken up their engagement after a couple of weeks because, reportedly, the singer discovered that the 29-year-old actor's intentions were not genuine. An insider also revealed that the actor was trying to use the singer's name without her knowledge to boost his career.
The Sonny With A Chance star appeared on the stage with a huge smile and shared her excitement for being the host. She noted that 2020 seemed to be the longest years of her life while she clarified that it was amazing initially.
She recalled performing at the GRAMMYs and also attending the Super Bowl, where she got an opportunity to sing the national anthem. However, the singer acknowledged the pandemic causing the major setback as everyone went under lockdown.
The People's Choice Awards was also held under safety measures and social distancing as there was an audience present virtually from the comfort of their homes. Lovato stole the show with her sparkling red outfit on the red carpet.
She also shared a video on her Instagram that featured a staff member doing her hair while she was recording herself through the mirror. However, during the opening speech, she immediately addressed the elephant in the room and said that after COVID-19 shut down, she did things like everyone else, including engagement.
She counted everything she did during the lockdown, such as meditation, photography, painting, testing posts limit on Instagram, binge-watching Pretty Little Liars, searching for aliens, and of course, getting unengaged.
She mentioned that this is one of the favorite shows ever, not because she had won trophies in the past, but who takes the award is decided by the fans directly instead of the jury. Although after making jokes about her personal life, she went serious with a powerful message.
She acknowledged the difficult time and how people eventually found ways to help one another. Lovato said that tonight they have gathered to celebrate music, films, people, and events that helped everyone to get through such challenging times.
"And tonight it's all about the people joining us live are super fans from all over the country, and everyone's in the VIP section," she added.
