Kathryn Newton Opens Up About The Shocking Un-Renewal Of 'The Society' And Her Reunion With Blumhouse For 'Freaky'
Touted as one of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors, Kathryn Newton is all set to make a major comeback to the big screen in Christopher Landon’s slasher-comedy Freaky. She portrays the role of a high school student, Millie, who switches bodies with Vince Vaughn, played by Vince Vaughn.
Moreover, the impending slasher-comedy also serves as a Paranormal Activity 4 reunion between the 23-year-old actress, Paranormal screenwriter, and producer Jason Blum. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Newton said she was about 14 years old when she did Paranormal Activity 4, and that experience gave her the confidence to do anything.
She went on to express her gratitude towards Chris and Jason Blum, who called her again, noting that she has been waiting with bated breath to work with them again. Newton admitted that she tried to work with Landon for a long time after their first collaboration, and it was perfect for her to find Freaky.
On top of that, she said, being described as Chris' dream casting was simply unbelievable. She also opened up about the unexpected un-renewal of her hit Netflix series dubbed, The Society. Newton went live with co-star Gideon Adlon on Instagram to directly address the show's huge fanbase, Deadline reported.
In her Instagram video, she admitted she was heartbroken, while Adlon said the new was a bit of a gut-punch and a big bummer. They admitted that they couldn't control how things sometimes work, with Newton telling her fans that they were bent on going back into production on Season 2 during the pandemic.
She even confirmed that everything was written, noting that she can't believe they will not be able to start working on the hotly-anticipated season. The Society was slated to start production back in Sept. Newton, also alluded to the Season 1 finale, which was touted then as a series finale.
Newton recently looked back at her experience on popular TV series, including Big Little Lies and Halt and Catch Fire. She also hinted at some impending golf-related projects while speaking to THR. The host asked her if she did a double-take during the body swap premise involving Vince. Newton said yes, adding that Vince is one of her favorite actors ever.
