Is Kate Middleton A Princess?
Kate Middleton got married to Prince William in a glittering wedding ceremony in 2011. While her husband is second in line to the throne in Britain, many wonder whether Middleton is a Princess or not.
It was in 2011 when Middleton married Prince William in Westminster Abbey. Since then, she has emerged as one of the most popular Royal Family members. The young royal couple has three adorable kids – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
However, though Middleton married a Prince, she is not regarded as a Princess. Technically though, she is a Princess by the virtue of her marriage. After getting married to William, she got the title of Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince William is referred to as the Earl of Strathearn and his wife is known as the Countess of Strathearn in Scotland. Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch of Britain granted the dukedom of Cambridge to her grandson for his wedding.
Roles and tiles in Britain are given in Britain to the Royal Family members either by marriages or by inheritance. Some titles such as Prince and Princesses in the country are meant only for women or men who are born in the Royal Family like Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugene and Prince Harry and Prince William.
Thus, though Kate Middleton got married to a Prince, it is not possible for her to be referred to as a Princess in Britain because she was not born in the royal family. While she is technically a Princess in the UK, she can be only called “Princess William of Wales.”
However, all her three kids can use the title of Prince or Princess. Middleton has been given the title of the Duchess of Cambridge. It is also a big honor because a Duchess is regarded as the second-highest rank below the monarch.
Middleton has been given the title of a Duchess after her marriage and can be also referred to as Her Royal Highness. Typically, Dukes and Duchesses are referred to as “Your Grace.”
When Prince William sits on the throne, he will not only become the King of Britain but also of 15 other Commonwealth countries. His wife will then be known as the Queen consort, Daily Express reports.
In other news, Daily Mail reported that Meghan Markle has allegedly told her friends that if Kate Middleton, her sister-in-law was constantly being slammed by the media, the British Royal Family would have definitely intervened and altered its media policies. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex declared last week that they will not have any engagement with four tabloids in the United Kingdom.
