‘The Crown’ Stars Emma Corrin, Olivia Colman Share Their Insights About Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth
The Crown stars Emma Corrin and Olivia Colman recently shared what they learned about Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth while portraying their characters in the series.
During a recent interview Woman's Day, Australian actress Corrin revealed that she worked with a movement coach while she was filming the series. And on her first day on set, the acting coach asked her to liken Princess Diana to an animal.
Corrin said that she thinks Princess Diana is like a deer in the headlights. But over the course of time, Corrin realized that Princess Diana was more like a cat.
She said that Princess Diana is like a cat because she has an intense presence, but she’s also mysterious and enticing. Even when they’re around, no one really knows who they are. Corrin said that she felt that this also the essence of the Princess of Wales.
Meanwhile, Colman denied the claims that the queen is cold-hearted after getting to know Her Majesty while portraying her.
Colman said that the queen faced a lot of hardships during that time in her life when her children were already adults. And the monarch couldn’t help but wonder if she raised her kids right. However, this doesn’t make her cold-hearted.
The queen has also reportedly been told that she’s everyone’s rock because everyone relied on her. And this is probably why she gave off the impression that she’s cold-hearted when she’s not.
Meanwhile, The Crown creator Peter Morgan talked about Prince Andrew and said that the public’s perception of Sarah Ferguson’s ex-husband was very different decades ago.
After all, the Duke of York was an absolute pin-up for the royal family. He was also regarded as a rock star prince because he went to fight in the Falklands War.
And some royal fans also wanted Prince Andrew to become the queen’s successor and not Prince Charles. But in recent years, Prince Andrew has earned a negative reputation that became much worse due to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
In related news, Helena Bonham Carter also dished on Princess Margaret. She said that she tried convincing the writers and directors to not include her in Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marital problems.
After all, Princess Margaret knew what it was like for someone to not support her relationship because the queen refused to give her and Peter Townsend her blessing.
However, Carter said that the writers didn’t agree with her so she will play a huge part in the fall out of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage.
