Ryan Seacrest, Kelly Ripa Shares Alex Trebek's Influence On Their Life
Since the tragic news of Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek passed away, a couple of celebrities opened up about the influence the legendary host had on their lives. Recently, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa reflected on the 80-year-old host's death on Nov. 8.
In an interview with Rachel Smith, the Live With Kelly and Ryan hosts revealed their impact on their life and what they would always remember about Trebek. The 50-year-old actress said that she played the game show every night with Trebek through her television screen. Ripa further said that she is going to be one of the fans, always.
"He has been on our show but I maintained my fan relationship with him and that's really how I knew him is that I played Jeopardy! with him every night," she explained. The Cheaper by the Dozen star said that she felt clever after watching his show as it used to stay with her over the period of time.
The actress admitted that it was the education that wasn't received in university but by the Jeopardy! Show. On the other hand, Seacrest shared his connection with Trebek. He recalled when he first arrived in Los Angeles and met Merv Griffin at the age of 19.
Seacrest further revealed that Griffin allowed him to watch a taping of his show, Jeopardy! The host said that he didn't only witness the grand show for the first time but also how the legendary host used to handle things behind the scenes.
Seacrest addressed him as a "remarkable legend" who won't get forgotten. The host also took Instagram to pay tribute to his favorite game show host. He explained that he looked at Trebek as a family member because he used to watch him every night.
He admitted that before starting his television career, he saw Trebek's taping, which influenced a lot. Jimmy Kimmel also took Twitter to share his sadness over the tragic news. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! Host asked in chagrin that can't everyone get one nice weekend and praised the legendary host for being consistent and a gentleman throughout his career.
Another popular host and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres, also tweeted that Trebek hosted the show for over 36 years. She addressed his career as remarkable and incredible while sending love to his fans and family. More television hosts such as Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Steve Harvey, and Seth Meyers shared their condolences on social media.
