Royal Shock: Queen Allegedly Still Blames Princess Diana's Bulimia As Main Driving Force For Divorce With Charles
The marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was one for the history books. It was the perfect fairytale wedding between a Prince and another noble blooded woman.
But what came after their highly publicized wedding was nothing short of shocking, as controversies and scandals hounded the royal pair for the duration of their marriage.
It is well known the Charles and Princess Diana eventually called it quits on their marriage after Princess Diana’s inability to cope with Prince Charles's relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles, among many other issues.
But according to royal author Andrew Morton, the Queen largely blamed Princess Diana’s eating disorder as the cause of her marriage with Charles breaking down.
Princess Diana’s battle with Bulimia was publicly revealed during her many interviews with the media. Her sudden weight loss was also obvious during events and the Princess herself have opened up about it in the past.
According to Princess Diana, there was one comment from Prince Charles that triggered her eating disorder. A story shared by the Princess revealed that Charles once touched her on the waist and commented that she was ‘a little chubby.’
This led to Diana having an unhealthy coping mechanism while undergoing relentless work for the royal family.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes largely that the Queen blamed Princess Diana’s disorder for the demise of the perfect royal couple, according to Cheatsheet.
“[Diana] was bulimic. The queen always said she’s like a nervy racehorse and said, treat her with kid glove. Later on, they blamed the failure of Diana’s marriage on her bulimia, which wasn’t really the case at all,” Seward explained.
Other royal experts have debunked these claims by Seward. Jenny Bond reveals that both the Queen and Prince Philip do not blame Diana. Instead, they largely put the blame on their son Prince Charles.
Bond continues by explaining that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were both well aware of Prince Charles lingering emotional attachment to Camilla Parker-Bowles. The nation also blamed the latter for Diana and Prince Charles's divorce and Diana’s eventual death.
Many have yet to forgive Prince Charles's treatment towards Princess Diana. It is clear in many of the public instances that Diana was unhappy in the marriage but had no choice to stick around due to their children.
Until now, Princess Diana is still highly regarded by the people of the UK and continues to influence the royal family even in her death.
