Tyra Banks Opens Up About 'DWTS' And Self-Acceptance
Tyra Banks has been making headlines since she joined Dancing With The Stars. The 46-year-old actress and television personality has come under fire multiple times. However, the actress shed light on her reality TV show journey while the season has reached only midway.
The actress took the time to look back on the ABC series and revealed the details behind the scenes. Banks spoke about self-acceptance on the show, where she also works as an executive producer. In a recent interview with ET, the actress disclosed her fashion game during the show and said that she tried to have at least two different outfits every episode.
Although she admitted that it became difficult than she thought. After a couple of episodes, she recalled stepping down the stage while keeping one hand on her back and keeping her outfit aligned. She confessed that she forgot to zip up her dress and also didn't have any of her jewelry on.
Banks further said that fans might not have noticed but after some time, she kept her hands down as her dress got zipped up and she also magically got her jewelry back. She laughed at her own and noted the stress behind such dancing competition shows could build on a professional.
While hosting the star-studded show, the actress mentioned that keeping her fashion and style on point is primary. She admitted that this brings comfort and helps to strikeout. However, she further revealed certain rules she developed for herself.
"You have to play to your strengths, so I play to making sure that the waist is snatched -- because, if it's not, I'm well-endowed naturally and it can look a little bit like a mumu," she added. Banks said that sometimes the dresses don't have proper shoulders to cover her "very broad shoulders."
Given that, she had given the guidelines to ensure that the dress is wide enough from the top. She went on to explain that there are more things in her checklist, such as no adding satin material on her b--bs, on her belly area, or on her b--ty to ensure that it doesn’t look bigger than the real size on television.
Banks confessed that she had gone under redesigning and refitting of her outfits multiple times. She is one of those rare celebrities who have never hold back from talking about her body and even while taping Dancing With The Stars, the actress seems to be comfortable declaring her own set of rules.
