Princess Beatrice Reportedly Refused To Give Up Seat For Kate Middleton’s Sister Pippa
Princess Beatrice and Kate Middleton’s relationship used to be very shaky.
In fact, a source revealed that there have at least been two heated encounters between the two female royals.
Catherine Ostler wrote an article for Daily Mail in 2016 where she detailed an incident between Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Middleton, and her sister, Pippa.
Years ago, the three members of the royal family and Pippa attended a fashion show for Issa. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie sat on the front row of the venue but organizers asked them to transfer to the second row to make way for Pippa. However, the royal siblings refused to move to different seats.
“Depending on who you talk to, this was a case of the Princesses being regal and unfriendly or Pippa being unnecessarily pushy because she didn’t want to lose face by suffering the social death that is being made to sit in the second row,” Ostler wrote.
During another occasion in 2008, Middleton hosted a charity roller disco and she didn’t invite Princess Beatrice. Eventually, someone else sent an invitation to Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eldest daughter but it wasn’t the Duchess of Cambridge.
When Princess Beatrice arrived at the venue, she was photographed in an ordinary dress since no one informed her about the 80s dress code. The incident reportedly reduced Princess Beatrice to tears and she blamed Prince William’s wife for not telling her anything.
Ostler called the alleged feud between Princess Beatrice and Middleton pathetic. But it is unfortunate that people remember such things. She said that these events deplete mutual goodwill if there’s any, to begin with.
Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice also had a challenging relationship with Prince William years ago. The latter reportedly introduced his cousin to his former friend, Dave Clark.
After dating for a few years, there was an expectation that Prince William would invite Clark to his and Middleton’s royal wedding in 2011. However, he didn’t invite him because he had worries over Clark being indiscreet.
According to Express, Prince William was also behind Princess Beatrice and Clark’s split in 2016. Since the Duke of Cambridge was no longer a huge fan of Clark by then, he didn’t give him a good word with Queen Elizabeth.
“It’s fair to say that if Beatrice had asked the Queen for permission to marry Dave, and she, in turn, asked William privately for his view, she may not have been given a glowing report. Dave is a nice guy and he makes Beatrice happy, which is important. But William has always been wary of him. There is a clash of personalities,” a source told Daily Mail.
