Matthew McConaughey Opens Up About Life After 'Dazed and Confused'
While Matthew McConaughey has done several movies over the past three decades, the actor is still remembered for his iconic character in the cult classic, Dazed and Confused. Although the movie was released in 1993, the popular catchphrase from the film is still what people remember vividly.
The 50-year-old actor recently shed light on his life-changing experience as he appeared on Sunday Today With Willie Geist for NBC News. The actor disclosed that those three words were the first line he said during the filming, "Alright alright alright."
He recalled there were no other dialogues written for him in that scene. Moreover, the actor said that he meets fans after 27 years of release which comes up with his quote in various ways, such as calling it, getting pictures, or even creating tattoos at sensational places.
The actor confessed that Dazed and Confused was the first-ever movie he did, but his breakthrough happened after three years, A Time to Kill released in 1996. However, McConaughey revealed that he wanted to abandon his acting career for the sake of being a football coach.
He also showed interest in being a wildlife guide during a conversation with Oprah Winfrey on The Oprah Conversation. The actor admitted he struggled to work in dramatic movies as he used to work in romantic roles before. In fact, he thought of many careers that he could pick.
The actor who went on to win Oscar later in his career said that he could also become a school teacher or an orchestra leader. McConaughey seemed firm on his decision when he took a break from acting that he would never return.
Although he continued with acting, though, he had to change his attitude. McConaughey also reflected on his children and said that he doesn't want his success to make them become arrogant. He opened up about the rules he learned from his father, which he did like to carry forward in his children.
He said that lying is not allowed, while children are not allowed to say "hate" or start their sentences with "I can't." These three rules are the basics of the upbringing of his three kids, Livingston, 7, Vida, 10, and Levi, 12.
The actor is married to Camila Alves in 2012 and since then, they have been sharing some serious relationship goals with fans. He acknowledged that his kids get noticed in the world and they do have a nice house being successful in business but he doesn't want his kids to search for values.
